We are very excited to announce that the national organization of Hands & Voices has officially recognized the effort made in Vermont of the very small start-up group working on establishing a Vermont Hands & Voices chapter and has elevated us to a "provisional" chapter status.
A bit of background⦠Hands & Voices is a parent-driven, non-profit organization providing families with the resources, networks, and information they need to improve communication access and educational outcomes for their children. Outreach activities, parent/professional collaboration, and advocacy efforts are focused on enabling Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing children to reach their highest potential. Hands & Voices is dedicated to supporting families with children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing without a bias towards communication modes or methodology.

To date we have hosted two Family Gatherings for the dual purpose of getting children with hearing loss and their families together and spreading the word about our efforts to establish a Vermont Hands & Voices chapter.
One was held in Burlington and one in Brattleboro. Click on this link to see some photos of one of these gatherings. We anticipate hosting another event in the Rutland area in early September.
