American Sign Language (ASL) Classes

The ASL Program offered by the Vermont Center for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing, Inc. provides American Sign Language (ASL) classes throughout the state of Vermont to professionals, community members and parents. The VISTA Signing Naturally Curriculum is utilized for 13 week courses offered in the fall and spring. ASL students learn the fundamentals of finger-spelling, ASL structure and vocabulary as well as develop skills for communicating with Deaf people. ASL students will be introduced to the complex aspects of ASL communication, including eye movement, facial expression and body posture. Students will also explore and develop skills in gesture, pantomime and body-language.

The ASL classes will be held  from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. for 13 weeks. Registration fee is $250 plus material expenses which will depend on class level. Enrollment allows 15 students per class. Please plan on arriving between 4:30 and 5:00 p.m. in Croker Hall for registration and for information regarding class location.
