AUSTINE CAMPUS

The Austine School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing is a state approved Pre-k through 12th grade comprehensive educational program promoting excellence and life long learning. Due to expanding programs, we are looking for quality people with the abilities to serve our students with compassion and energy.

You must have knowledge of American Sign language or ability to learn if applying for positions working with our students.

Teacher of Oral/Deaf Students
Location:
Northern VT - Public High School
Time base: Full Time


Part-Time Interpreter
Location:
Brattleboro, VT
Time base: 15 Hours per week


Overnight  Residential Advisor

Location: Brattleboro, VT
Time base:  Monday - Thursday  11:00 pm -8:15 am
Qualifications:
High School Graduate
Effective communication skills to include American Sign Language
Willingness to receive CPR, First Aid and Restraint Training
Willingness to learn behavior management techniques
Understands the uniqueness and development of Deaf & Hard of Hearing students

Responsibilities: 
Attend professional and staff development seminars/workshops in child development and behavior management techniques
Provides a safe and orderly environment
Be able to respond to student related emergencies
 


Paraprofessional for Autism Program

Location: Brattleboro, VT
Time Base: 1st shift 7am-3pm school year, 6:30am-3:30pm
Qualifications: 
     High School Diploma & related experience
     Related training in Autism spectrum disorders preferred 
     Proficiency in ASL
Responsibilities: 
     Assist teacher with tutoring & classroom management
     Assist with morning residential program 
     Must be able to assist student with daily living skills & assist student
       with physical motor needs to include lifting,guiding. 


Speech - Language Pathologist

Location: Brattleboro, VT
Time base: Consultant and/ or part-time
Qualifications: Degree and Licensed required

Residential Advisor

Location:
Brattleboro, VT
Time base: 2nd Shift -Monday - Thursday 2pm -11:15 pm

                      Friday: 11 am-10 pm
                      Saturday 8 am-10 pm
                      Sunday 8 am-10 pm

Qualifications:
High School Graduate

Paraprofessional
Time Base: Full Time
Location:    Brattleboro, VT
Qualifications:
High School diploma and related experience. Understand the uniqueness and development of Deaf and Hard  of Hearing students.
Proficiency in ASL
Enthusiasm for working with children ages 3-21.
Valid drivers license.
Willingness to obtain a VT bus license.

Responsibilities:
Assist teachers with tutoring and instruction, classroom management and clerical tasks. 
Assist with morning residential program. 
Participate in staff development activities.
Willingness to obtain certification in First Aid, CPR, and restraint training.
Must be able to assist student with physical motor needs to include lifting, guiding.


Nursing Position
Time Base: Per Diem
Location:     Brattleboro, VT
Requirements:

  • Vermont State Licensure required (or willing to obtain immediately)
  • CPR certification preferred, will provide if necessary
  • Willingness to learn American Sign Language
  • Will include some holiday/weekend/summer responsibilities and rotating "on call" assignment


COMMUNITY BASED & REGIONAL PROGRAMS

Teacher of the Deaf

Time Base: Part time
Location:    Swanton, Vermont
Responsibilities: 

Teach all levels /content areas of high school education
Prepare lesson plans/curricula to meet IEP goals and objectives 
Promote social, cognitive, emotional and physical growth in students.

Requirements:
Degree in Deaf Education, MA Preferred
American Sign  Language fluency & English preferred
Vermont Teaching license in Special Education
